HS2 Go Ahead Brilliant for Birmingham and the UK

Following Boris Johnson’s confirmation earlier today that HS2 will go ahead, Damien Siviter, Group MD at SevenCapital commented:

“This is very welcome news for Birmingham, the North and the whole of the UK. HS2 is more than simply a great piece of infrastructure to make getting from A to B faster, it will completely transform connectivity across the country and revolutionise the way we do and go about business. It will also provide a fantastic opportunity to begin to re-balance the country from North to South.

“It’s extremely positive that the PM has reassured us that phase 2 will also go ahead, following a review. It’s now highly important that things move quickly to get phase 1 off the ground “before the end of the decade” and phase 2 confirmed sooner rather than later.

HS2 has already had a significant impact on key towns and cities along its planned route. Perhaps none more so than Birmingham, by highlighting the plethora of opportunity that lies beyond London and the South East, for businesses and individuals alike to thrive.

“The UK and any plans pending on HS2 can now look forward to a very exciting, and different, future.”
