New Developments in Slough to Watch in 2019

A commercial powerhouse that has been voted the Best Place to Live and Work for two years running by Glassdoor, Slough is leading the way for commuter towns that are reinventing themselves as true alternatives to the central London market. As more new development comes to Slough, so does the opportunities and impact on the local property market.

Demand is at an all-time high thanks to a £9billion economy and the largest concentration of global businesses outside of the capital, attracting young professionals that want to take advantage of the enviable employment opportunities and more affordable residential market.

With property prices in Slough set to rise by 35% according to JLL and a £1billion regeneration project taking shape across the town, this up-and-coming commuter town is set to witness unprecedented growth heading into 2019.

New Developments in Slough to watch

Ice Arena Redevelopment

Ice Arena

With refurbishment completed in 2018, the Ice Arena has quickly become a leisure hotspot within the town. Home to the Slough Jets, the extension of the Ice Arena has provided a fully refurbished ice rink, cafe, climbing wall, gym, party zone and changing facilities.

The continued redevelopment of the Ice Arena shows Slough’s commitment to creating real community spaces within the town, encouraging growing families and other residents to stay active wherever possible. It’s also yet another amenity that will meet the demand for more leisure activities.

Arbour Park

Arbour Park

An award-winning project for Slough that is currently open to the public and also being used by Slough Town Football Club, Arbour Park is a 2,000 capacity 3G pitch and function room that also acts as a sports hall for a nearby school.

As a community sports facility, it demonstrates further progress by Slough to redevelop each and every sector throughout the town, creating a true community spirit and meeting the necessary demands from residents.

Crossrail

The most important infrastructural development for the London Commuter belt, Crossrail will massively improve travel around the region, particularly between locations such as Slough and London. Aside from cutting travel times and increasing the number of passengers able to travel, Crossrail will also create new connections for key destinations.

The commercial impact can also not be understated, particularly on the property market. With property prices within a mile of a Crossrail station already improving by 60%, demand will grow for residential space near these important travel links.

This project will improve access and reduce congestion while also reducing travel times, particularly between Reading and Heathrow.

Aside from improving infrastructure, the new route is expected to create a number of economic benefits for businesses in the region, providing £800million of economic activity and generating employment opportunities for 42,000 people.
